I want to see the whole world and I want to write down everything.

~ Harriet the spy

In traditional publishing, the publisher takes all the risk on a manuscript and a lot of control over its direction. A traditional publisher usually pays the writer a small advance and ongoing sales royalties.

Most writers know how difficult it is to get published in Australia. The domestic market is small, the overseas market is difficult to crack, book production is expensive and publishers create their lists well in advance.

Publishers compile these lists according to current and foreseeable sales trends, with little room for unsolicited manuscripts, even from agents with edited manuscripts.

However, traditional publishing isn't for everyone. Some writers have a specific reason for publishing their work. Some feel confident about their ability to sell and market their work. Some need only a small number of printed copies.

If this sounds more like you, Lexi Publishing Services can help.
